Look of the Day | Simple Burgundy Brown Eye Shadow
Participating in the SeneGence Glamour Look of the Week challenges me to experiment with colors I wouldn't typically choose. Today was no different! Dusk Shimmer ShadowSense, with its lovely shimmer and subtle rosy beige, caught my eye. While I usually grab for Burgundy ShadowSense, the combination with Dusk Shimmer is undeniably stunning!
Creating this makeup look was quick and effortless, ideal for a summer vibe. Keep reading to discover the order in which I applied and my insights on each product.
Caramel Apple & Nude Honey LipSense Layering Combo
I wanted a lip color that was going to blend the red and beige shades together, but also wasn’t my typical lip colors! So I opted for a layered lip look by using Caramel Apple, Nude Honey, Nude Honey LipSense, topped with Glossy Gloss. This combo really gives off the subtle lip color shade I was going for. Also, I really think this look pops with the seafoam green shirt! (P.S. this is one of my favorite style tanks from Banana Republic Factory. You literally see me in them daily 😂)
Dusk Shimmer & Burgundy ShadowSense
Ah the eyes! I usually begin with applying eye makeup first, even though this blog post chat about lip color first. I prefer to know what my eye color combination looks like before finishing with the lips so I can tweak my lip color to match with different layers and/or glosses.
Before we dive into my eye makeup application process, please remember that there are countless ways to apply eye makeup, and no single method is the "right" one. My technique often varies depending on the shades I use.
Today, because Burgundy ShadowSense is a deeper shade and I wanted to use it as the transition color, I started with that. I applied a bit to the outer corner, blending inward and over the crease. I patted the shade into the outer corner and used a windshield wiper or circular motion over the crease and lid, which helped to sheer out the shade a bit.
Once I achieved the shading I liked, I swiped on some Dusk Shimmer ShadowSense, patting it all over my lid and ensuring the two shades blended seamlessly. If I wasn't satisfied with the blend, I went back over it with my Burgundy brush until I was happy. Remember, you can always add more color! So don't stress over making it perfect. Oh and never judge too hard until you have on all your "finishers" like mascara and eye liner.
Lastly, I placed a little Burgundy ShadowSense on the back of my hand, blotted my blush brush into the product to fully coat the bristles, and applied it to my cheekbones. I've been loving the effect of tapping the extra product over the bridge of my nose to mimic how the sun would naturally hit my face. Plus, using a product in multiple ways is always a win. 😜
