Look of the Day: Mixing Unexpected Colors

It’s day five of getting back into the groove of doing my makeup - and let me tell you, it feels good! Between being pregnant and welcoming Cosette, I’ve let my usual beauty routine slide (but never my skincare 😜). This week, I’ve been intentional about carving out a little time for myself each day: doing my makeup, putting on whatever “normal” clothes still fit, and embracing the process with 4 crazy minions. Anyone out there that can relate?

As part of this reset, I’m challenging myself to reach for makeup shades I don’t usually grab. Today’s combo turned out to be a big win, and I think you’ll love it too!

The Eyes: Soft and Sparkly

At the heart of today’s look is Rose Gold Glitter ShadowSense, part of the Mystery Bags launching very soon. I centered my entire eye look around it, and I’m obsessed with the result!

Here’s what I used:

  • Rose Gold Glitter ShadowSense – The star of the show. Applied this all over my eyelids. This eye shadow has thicker glitter flecks so make sure to pat it on!

  • Pink Posey ShadowSense – A soft, dusty pink with a hint of coral undertone. It worked beautifully as a transition shade today.

  • Woodland ShadowSense – A medium-toned brown to add depth and definition to the eyes.

I switched up my application order today, starting with the glitter (normally I’d begin with the transition shade). Applying Rose Gold Glitter all over my lids gave me a gorgeous base to work with. Plus, applying it first allowed me to envision the colors I wanted for the look overall. I knew I needed a transition shade and wanted to try Pink Posey since I haven’t used it in a while! I blended it into my crease and softly down into the glitter for a seamless blend.

To add depth, I used Woodland in the outer corner, blending it in a soft V-shape. Woodland is a brown shade, but it’s not overly dark or warm, it’s just right for subtle dimension. The way these three shades came together surprised me! They balanced each other so well, creating a look that’s both elegant and a little playful.

The Lips: A Perfect Blend

For lips, I started with Legacy Lips Mini LipSense, previously part of the Miss USA Collection. This shade is such a classic, it’s often compared to Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk. It’s an everyday pink-neutral tone that’s soft and versatile.

But once I applied it, I felt like it leaned a little too cool for today’s look. To warm it up, I layered on Caramel Kiss Plumping Gloss, a nude caramel-toned gloss with a warm undertone that I’m completely obsessed with. It added just the right amount of warmth to tie the whole look together while giving my lips a plumped, hydrated feel.

The Finishing Touches

For cheeks, I opted for Bronze BlushSense, which gave my skin a touch of warmth and color without overpowering the look. I blended it onto the apples of my cheeks and swept a little excess around the crown of my forehead for a soft, sun-kissed effect. I’m not sure why I slept on Bronze BlushSense for so long. I have really picked up using this one as it is super versatile, easy to blend, and gives my face a fast pick-me-up of color!

Your Turn: Do You Love Glitter?

I’m curious, do you ever experiment with glitter in your makeup looks? Whether it’s a subtle shimmer or a full-on sparkle moment, glitter has this way of elevating even the simplest look. If you haven’t tried it yet, start small with something like Rose Gold Glitter. It’s festive, versatile, and just plain fun.

What colors are you loving right now? Let me know, I’m always looking for new combinations to try!👇
