Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes

Why cleaning is so important

How often do you clean your makeup brushes? Did you know 39-45% of people NEVER clean their makeup brushes?😱

Personally it is my most dreaded day of the month. Yes, you read month right. I have a large collection of brushes I have accumulated so I can extend the time in-between cleaning, but then that means a good hour of cleaning them. 🥴️

However, you want to make sure you are regularly cleaning your makeup brushes! It is a necessary evil because:

  1. It removes the dirt, bacteria, makeup, and oils from the brush to assist with better skin.

  2. Increases the lifespan of your makeup brushes! I mean they aren’t cheap after all. 😜

  3. Allows your makeup to apply better without muddied colors and streaky/patchy application.

  4. Dirty brushes can cross contaminate your products making them spoil and expire faster.🤢

SenseCosmetics Brush Cleaner

I have tried many different brush cleaners and baby shampoo, but I always come back to our SenseCosmetics Brush Cleaner because of how well it breaks down the makeup in the brushes. If you are using SeneGence cosmetics especially you want this in your arsenal!

This brush cleaner not only smells amazing, packs a powerful punch, but it has ingredients to condition your brushes to keep them soft and supple. Plus, it is safe to use on both synthetic and natural hair bristle brushes. If you need to know more on that this blog post goes over everything you need to know.

How to Use SenseCosmetics Brush Cleaner by SeneGence

Using SeneGence Brush Cleaner is really easy! Squeeze a small amount into a clean cup and swirl your brush around in the cleaner for 20 seconds, or longer if needed. Then remove and rinse until the water is clean.

Ashley’s Tips & Tricks

For smaller eye makeup brushes this isn’t as necessary, but for the larger foundation and powder brushes I find running them under water first to get them damp before putting them in the cleaner works best to not absorb all the product. Once I have swirled the brush around I squeeze the excess cleanser into the cup.

Once I have done the above I rinse the brush clean. I find when I use the SeneGence brush cleaner I don’t need to use the silicone cleaning mat, but I have it there in case I have product that doesn’t want to rinse out.

Then once the water is running clean and no more product is being removed I squeeze out the excess water and wipe the brush on a microfiber cloth. I find this helps absorb excess water allowing my brushes to dry quicker! From there I lay the brush on a clean towel to dry.

So if you haven’t washed your makeup brushes recently, what are you waiting for!?
