Ultra Intense Matte Lip Collection First Thoughts
Everyone is eagerly waiting to hear how the Ultra Intense Matte Collection applies by SeneGence and what makes it different from our normal matte shades. Let’s start off with what is in the collection. The collection is comprised of three new mini LipSense colors, Boss, Diva, and Extra, and our new permanent line Satin Matte Gloss which is full size and to replace the old Matte Gloss. They are available individually or as a collection.
What makes these lip colors different than our other matte long-lasting lip color releases?
These are pigment-packed and need a little extra care when applying to get them to apply smoothly.
They are scented! They have a fresh champagne cider scent which I do enjoy.
Each of the LipSense includes sodium hyaluronate for additional moisturizing of your lips!
Okay let’s get into the nitty gritty of each color, application, and thoughts.
First, y’all know I’m going to start with the deepest shade and it’s a Berry! Boss LipSense is a richly pigmented, bold berry with an opaque matte finish (hello ultra matte collection).
This shade applies well for me without any streaking and it really is beautiful. This is my favorite of the three.
The only con to this color, which applies to the other two as well, is after my glossy gloss has soaked it it feels a bit tacky like I had not applied gloss to begin with. I believe this might have to do with the fact that I need to allow it to dry longer in-between layers, but I honestly do not have the patience for that. Therefore, I’d suggest some of our other berry shades for first time users or inpatient appliers like me.😜
Next up we have Extra. Extra LipSense is a medium pink with an opaque matte finish. This is my second favorite in the collection and I actually feel like this is a fantastic Spring/Summer lip color.
As far as application is concerned I also felt Extra LipSense applied well. Same thing as noted above in the Boss LipSense section that it can feel tacky after application even with glossy gloss. See below for tips on how to get around this.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this to a first time LipSense user as it takes a bit more care unless they are willing to be patient. A similar lipstick shade to try would be Summer Sunset LipSense or if still available Earth, True Love, or Roxstar LipSense shades.
Last up, and my personal least favorite of the collection, is Diva Lipsense. This color had everything going against it though as I’m not a light peachy person for colors like Bombshell, Apple Cider, Cappuccino, etc.
The application of Diva LipSense was a bit tougher for me as it was streaky. I’m not sure why because I applied the same as the other two, but it was just a little more patchy on me.
Application Tips & Tricks
See basic application tips here.
Apply in ONE direction! Don’t go back and forth like a windshield wiper. This will help the color adhere to your lips.
Let the color completely dry in-between layers. With these higher pigmented shades you want to give 30 seconds to a minute in-between layers.
Make sure you apply THIN layers! If you apply too thick the lip color will become more tacky.
Make sure your final layer is fully dry before applying gloss. If you tap the color and it is still tacky you might need longer drying time.
Final Thoughts on Ultra Intense Matte Collection
Overall, this collection is pretty, but definitely not one I’d be rushing to repurchase. The formulation takes a little bit more T.L.C. to apply and for myself and most of my clients we are on the go.
Also, did you catch they are Minis! I love the option of Limited Editions in mini form because its the perfect size for seasonal shades. 😍
If you would like to grab a complete collection send me a message with the Facebook button to the right and I’ll get you set up! They flew off the shelves and are currently sold out company wide, but I do have a few left with the cute bag. 😜
Otherwise, they can be purchased individually at the links above as well!
